Puppy Love

So I've been trying to convince Desirae that we should get a puppy for Brooklyn. She's not into it. But how could you deny sweet Brooklyn's love for dogs? Our friends just happened to have puppies that will be available for adoption in 3 weeks. I've decided to take a poll of the masses and find out what your thoughts are. Should we or not?

Depends...Will it be an indoor or outdoor dog? I'm not one for dogs in the house (maybe b/c I'm allergic to them and my husband is too much of a neat freak) so if we ever got a dog, it would have to be an outdoor dog.

This is ADORABLE!!! I can attest that Brooklyn has a true love for dogs!!! SHe has no fear, however I have many comments on this subject.
1. Brooklyn WOULD love having a dog but brooklyn would not be training it, feeding it, cleaning up it's poo etc.
2. Naturally, since she's home all day this responsiblity would fall on Desirae- THis would make me think Desirae needs to have the final say on this Life Changing Decision.(NO joke on Life CHanging)
3. If Brooklyn has her own dog then that would take away her precious obession with HOney! Perhaps this may ultimately eliminate her desire to come see nini and papa! It's frightening and sad to even think about!
4. THink of moving, traveling, dog sitters etc.
5. I can NOT believe this is Stephen's idea! It's quite shocking to be honest!
6. The dogs do look adorable and it would make for some good stories! I can only imagine the mischief that Brookyln & the dog would get into!!! =)THat would be entertaining for me.
KEEP US POSTED DUDES!!! THis is hilarious!

One more thing-THe first picture is SO SO precious, Brooklyn's holding on tight as can be and Desirae's hands perfectly supporting the pups toosh! I really really love it!

I should also add that these lab pups come from a long line of field champions and there are two males (one black, one chocolate) and 10 females.

two votes for no (from eric and cindy). Because love used on a dog is love that could have been used on a human...and they smell bad.

I love dogs.... But only get one if you are willing to feed it, train it,clean up after it, and LOVE it... Eric and Cindy are animal haters...

Desirae should definitely have the final say though, because she would definitely be the one taking care of it all day. (maybe let her choose what kind, you might end up with something little, but hey... it's still a dog!!)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE dogs/cats ;)

I have two adorable labs (black female & yellow male). I love dogs, and if you are going to get a dog it should be a lab because they are really good around kids. However, I would wait until you get a house. We are lucky that our labs (who will be 2 in June) are pretty mellow, but a lot of labs are hyper the first 2 years and you would want a yard for him/her to run around in. On another note, males tend to be a little more mellow and they don't kill your grass (females urine is more acidic and kills your grass). Desirae should have the final say since she will be doing a lot of the initial work with the dog. For the first few months it was all me, potty training them (even if they will be outdoor dogs - which ours are for the most part they will need to be potty trained, especially when they are pups- it is so sad to have the little thing sleep outside at so young). All the other training is pretty easy, because labs are stinkin smart. Our dogs learned to sit/stay/heel/lay down etc after like 3 times. Dogs are a lot of work, but worth it once they "get it" and settle down with age. Something else to think about, when you DO get a dog think about getting two. I am serious, it was the smartest thing we ever did. The play with each other and keep each other company. So YOU don't have to entertain your dog all the time. We got ours from the same litter, it may seem crazy, but really...it was SO MUCH EASIER.

Not. Who needs the extra poop right now? That's what I tell Jason when he brings up the dog conversation. Who will be bathing the dog, feeding the dog, walking the dog, and cleaning up poop from the dog? We all know the answer to that one. One vote for NO!

Look Stephen, you should now buy now that Desi is not a big dog fan. I think one even bit her when we were little. Actually I think that may have been a grasshopper!!! Desi was almost as scared of dogs as she was the "cussers". So I vote NO DOG!

I would say no especially since you will be getting a new baby in the near future who will require lots of love and attention and be just as facinating for Brooklyn to attend to as a puppy. Good Luck with the decision:)

I don't know how to follow up after these last two comments. They were very enlightening. If you guys only knew the history behind Desirae and dogs. Plus you don't want all those germs around your baby...
